Our Mission

We exist to deliver reliable, high-spec machining services with the speed, quality, and transparency today’s engineers expect. And we’re doing it while building a company that invests in people, leads with clarity, and strengthens the community we work in.

Two friends. Decades of experience. One audacious plan: to build a modern shop that meets their high standards.

Matt and John didn’t take over a legacy shop like many advised them to do.

They started with a clean slate, bringing decades of combined experience in machining, systems, and operations to the table and investing in the latest and greatest to build a world-class shop from the get go.

After years of watching shops fall short—on communication, on technology, on training—they knew there was a better way, and APW is already proving they were right.

They chose Philly on purpose. They believe this city has the energy, talent, and grit to build a manufacturing powerhouse—and they’re committed to making that happen.

Matt Bruner,

Matt grew up surrounded by machines and shop talk—and eventually ran the systems and sales side of his family’s machining business. 

Later, he sold IoT and production analytics solutions to hundreds of shops across the country, gaining an inside look at the operational pain points most people ignore. 

APW is Matt’s answer to all of it: a clean-slate shop with modern systems, clear communication, and real respect for the craft.

John’s the guy who doesn’t just run a 5-axis like it’s nothing—he teaches others how to do it too. 

Starting in medical devices, he mastered complex mill-turn work and got obsessed with precision. But what sets him apart isn’t just his skill—it’s his passion for lifting others up. 

If there’s a new machine on the floor, he’s probably already optimizing it, improving the process, and mentoring someone in the process.
